South Asia Studies
The South Asia Studies Program provides a foundation for understanding, through a historical perspective, the political, socioeconomic and international dynamics of this crucial region. An array of interdisciplinary courses addresses South Asia’s growing economic and strategic importance as well as its political history, its complex social structures and the challenges of development.
Southeast Asian Studies
Established in 1991, the Southeast Asia Studies Program has evolved into one of the leading regional studies programs in the United States. The program offers multidisciplinary courses, language instruction and practical experience through summer internships.

Special Education
Candidates for the Johns Hopkins Master of Science in Special Education programs may be recent college graduates or professionals experienced in fields other than teaching who wish to develop special education careers.
Strategic Studies
The Strategic Studies Program explores the relationship between politics and the many kinds of military power—from the use of terror by small, non-state groups to the threatened use of nuclear weapons. Building on core concepts taught in the course Strategy and Policy, the program allows students to pursue interests in diverse aspects of security while developing a variety of analytic and practical skills.
String Instruments
The String Department at the Peabody Conservatory of Music is distinguished by a faculty of exceptional artists who enjoy national and international careers. Its members have won prizes in some of the most renowned international music competitions, including the Tchaikovsky in Moscow and the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium.
Summer Internship Program
The Summer Internship Program (SIP) provides experience in research laboratories to students of diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented minority students and students from economically disadvantaged and underserved backgrounds that have completed one – two or more years of college.

The department is known for excellent care of patients and being ranked the number one hospital in the United States, having a strong reputation for teaching medical students, training surgical residents and possessing a core of well-funded and state of the art research activity.
